Membership runs through your primary society. What the Union adds is the mill, the brokerage, the laboratory and a seat at the auction.
Founded in 1959, Kirinyaga County Cooperative Union Ltd represents 14 primary coffee cooperatives on the fertile southern slopes of Mt. Kenya. We carry the farmer's voice through the entire value chain — milling at Kirinyaga County Coffee Mill Ltd, trading through Kirinyaga Slopes Coffee Brokerage Co. Ltd.
Stand-in — original KCCU photography to followParchment arrives from member factories, weighed and logged per society for full traceability.
The parchment layer is removed to reveal green beans, with minimal breakage.
Density and screen sorting remove defects and foreign matter.
Beans are separated into AA, AB, PB, C and secondary grades by size and density.
Every outturn is sample-roasted and cupped to document its flavour profile.
Lots are bagged, sealed and dispatched to the Nairobi Coffee Exchange or direct buyers.
Each society has its own profile page — history, spec sheet, factories and season production.
